This section was inspired by the very development of RTK-Bazis, the experience that our staff had gained for the over 15 years’ period, that determined a well-defined scope of questions-answers, that arise in the process of customer-contractor связки.

When you are choosing the transportation company, you should consider both objective reasons (record of work, package of associated services like forwarding, storage), and subjective ones, but altogether most relevant to describe the process inside the company – opinions of people you know that have already used the services of forwarding companies.

When analyzing and comparing the price and completeness of package of services, make also consider your cargo integrity at all stages (including the warehouses, transportation by 3rd parties), and transporter’s attitude to the issue of compensation for damages.


Bit of advice No.1.

Determine the type of transportation in the first place – what type of transport will be used for delivery. This will help not to overpay and avoid stress of cargo expectation. There is precise correlation between the speed of delivery and cost of the service, hence if you plan the delivery beforehand, you can use “railway cargo transportation” service, this will make the delivery slightly longer, but cheaper. When choosing the type of transportation you should also consider the nature of your cargo – covered wagons transportation disagrees with some goods, a prime example is thermal-regime cargo transportation in winter period.

Bit of advice No.2.
A case at a loading site.

A “Gazel” truck arrives to deliver cargo at the terminal at the agreed time. Apart from the driver there is a passenger – the forwarding agent, representative of cargo’s owner, to follow-up the delivery.

The forwarding agent asks the driver: “What is the truck’s body space?”

The answer is: “According to the truck documentation – 8 cubic meters”.

The body is filled up almost completely (there are air spaces under the roof and by the tailgate).

Transportation company acceptance/delivery inspector, accepting the cargo from the forwarding agent on volume basis, carries out all necessary measurements, writes down all the data, and after some simple arithmetic calculations, pronounces the calculated volume – 8.3 cubic meters.

The driver and the forwarding agent resent.

The acceptance/delivery inspector forms a number of packages at flights, strictly with the dimensions of 8 cubic meters, and suggests, for a bet, the driver and the forwarding agent trying to stack all this cargo in “Gazel” body with 8 cubic meters size.

Trust, no one has ever managed such simple task.
In different cases from 0.5 to 1.5 cubic meters of cargo remain on the pallet.

Pure physics, no matter how you fit the boxes to each other – there are still clearances.

These are exactly the 10 % of extra charge to the size, that you can see yourselves, when putting together the volumes, declared for transportation and paid by you. All fair.
